To completely coat a round cake of 24 to 26 cm in diameter, you need about 500 g of sugar dough. If you wish to make a decorative knot, you can add 1 teaspoon of powdered tylose.
The sugar dough must be kneaded properly before spreading it on a thin layer of icing sugar or cornstarch.
